WhatsApp frequently surprises its users with new features. Just a few days ago, we caught wind of an innovation allowing channel transfers, and last week, it was revealed that new text formats were on the horizon.
Now, a feature that could delight all users has been noticed, thanks to WABetaInfo. As usual, this feature is currently in development, but the leaked screenshots provide some insights into how it will work. As anticipated, it will enable file sharing with nearby users, although the exact range between two devices remains unknown.
Additionally, the feature seems to involve a shaking motion of the phones to initiate the sharing process. WhatsApp mentions that the recipient can open the app and shake their phone to acknowledge and accept the file sharing request. Furthermore, the shared files will be protected by end-to-end encryption.
That’s about all we know regarding this feature. Information about its release date and details such as the maximum number of files that can be shared simultaneously are still unavailable. We’ll have to wait to learn more, as the file-sharing feature hasn’t even entered beta testing yet. So, it seems we have some time before it becomes available.
